Bachlette
Delete your account and data
You can delete your Bachlette account yourself, from inside the App, at any time. It is immediate and it is permanent. This page explains how, what goes, and what does not.
Delete it yourself, in the App
On the home screen, tap the menu button (the three lines) in the header, then tap Delete account at the bottom of the menu. The App asks you to confirm, and the deletion happens as soon as you do.
If you are inside a party, open the party's menu and tap Home first, then follow the steps above.
Guests do not have an account to delete. A guest joins with an anonymous session, not an account, so Delete account applies to hosts, who create accounts. A guest can leave a party at any time: tap the menu button (the three lines) in the party screen's header, then Leave party. A guest's display name and activity are deleted with the party, and the anonymous session record is deleted automatically once every party it joined has been deleted (Sections 5 and 9 of the Privacy Policy).
This is the fastest route and the one we recommend. There is nothing to wait for and nobody to email.
Or ask us to do it
If you cannot get into your account, email us from the address it was created with and we will delete it for you.
Please include:
- The email address associated with your account
- Whether you use Bachlette on iOS, Android, or both
We reply to the address on the account. Section 14 of the Privacy Policy sets out our response times for requests about your information.
What deletion removes
Deleting your account is a hard deletion, not a deactivation, and it cannot be undone. It removes:
- your account record and your email address
- your display name and profile
- any push notification tokens held for your devices
- every party you hosted, along with all of its content
- your membership of any party you joined, along with the display name you entered there and your votes, claims and bingo progress in it
Nothing you entered is left behind for the other members of a party to see. Results they have already seen on their own screens are not recalled.
If you are hosting a party
Deleting your account while you are hosting ends that party immediately for everyone in it, and its content is deleted with it. The App warns you and names the party before you confirm.
If you only want the party gone and not your account, end the party instead. Everything in it is deleted automatically seven days later, and Section 12 of the Terms of Service describes what ending a party does.
If you joined as a guest
Guests have no account to delete, and nothing to do. Joining with a code creates an anonymous record holding your display name and your activity in that party, and no email address or password.
All of it is deleted with the party, seven days after the host ends it. A party the host never ends is deleted sixty days after it started, and one that has not started yet is kept until the host ends it or deletes their account. The anonymous record itself goes once it belongs to no party at all. If you want your display name and activity out of a party before then, email us at [email protected] with the party name.
What deletion does not remove
Content reports. If you reported a prompt, or somebody reported a prompt in a party you hosted, that report is kept for twelve months from the day it was filed and deleting your account does not remove it. A report exists so that something can be looked into after the party it came from is gone, which a record the people named in it could erase on demand would not do. Sections 4.7, 9 and 10 of the Privacy Policy set out what a report holds and how long we keep it.
Backups. Residual copies may persist in our hosting provider's encrypted backups for a period after deletion. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy gives the window.
Purchase records. If you bought the App, the record of that purchase, and of any refund or transfer that followed it, is kept indefinitely, for tax, accounting and dispute purposes. Deleting your account removes the link between that record and your profile and leaves the record itself. It holds no payment details, because we never had any: the store takes the payment and tells us only that it happened. Sections 4.6, 9 and 10 of the Privacy Policy set out what a purchase record holds and how long we keep it.
